Mr. Hare passed away on Friday, May 27, 2016 in Savannah, Georgia. He was born on July 12, 1928 in Quincy, Florida to E.W. Hare and Geneva Elizabeth Hare and grew up and lived most of his life in Birmingham. He graduated from Phillips High School and attended the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. For 27 years he served as an accountant for Pullman Standard in Bessemer.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jean Guthrie Hare of Pooler, GA; son, Jay Hare (Elizabeth) of Alexander City, AL.; daughter, Robbie Jean Hare of Pooler, GA.; granddaughters, Betsy Hare Marshall of Santa Rosa Beach, FL and Maggie Hare Crockett of Amsterdam.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dewitt Hare, Edwin Hare, and William C. Hare.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to The American Heart Association 1449 Medical Park Drive South, Birmingham, AL 35213 or to Children's Harbor One Our Children's Highway, Alexander City AL 35010.
