Juan S. Flores, Jr. passed into eternal rest on Monday, May 16, 2016. He was 67 years old. He joins his parents, Julia & Gabriel Paiz; his father, Juan Flores, Sr.; and his loving sister, Josefa F. Perez in God’s beautiful garden. Although he never married and had no children, he was beloved by his remaining family members: younger sisters and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews who considered him more than an uncle but that of a father and grandfather having helped raise some of these children as his own.
Juan was a proud Vietnam Veteran who served his country in the United States Navy as a Fireman’s Apprentice on board the USS Iredell County. After his tour of duty, he retired from the Navy and lived his life as a custodian, an auto mechanic, a ranch hand and a loving caregiver. His twilight years were spent enjoying lunches and Fiesta parades with his sisters while caring for his nieces, his nephews and grandnieces. Rough and at times ornery in his earlier years, the sands of time sculpted him into a gentle soul who will be forever in our hearts and dearly missed.
