NORMA JEAN HIGGINS, age 84, of Mt. Vernon passed into the loving arms of her Lord, Saturday, May 21, 2016 at OSU Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on April 5, 1932 in Westerville on the family farm to the late Robert and Osceola (Smothers) Zedekar. As a homemaker she had been a member of the P. Buckley Moss Society and the Tuesday Afternoon Lunch Bunch in Westerville, as well as HOOT’s Heart of Ohio Travelers Club-Holiday Ramblers. A woman of deep faith she was a former member of Grace Chapel Community Church. Honest and true, she was a devoted wife who kept a pristine home and enjoyed a passion for animals.

Norma is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years Robert, nieces and nephews: Diane Weissenfluh, Jim (Lynda) Weissenfluh, Mary Anne (Bill) Beacom, Pat Dattilo, Mike (Glenna) Dattilo, many great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her grandmother who raised her Helen Smothers, brother Robert Zedekar and niece Shirley Vermillion.

Friends may call Wednesday from 10:00 p.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, St Rt 3 at 61, Sunbury, where services will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Wayne Booth officiating. Burial will take place in Burnside Cemetery.
