She lived in Deptford for four years before moving to Clarksboro, and previously resided in Woodbury for about a half a century. She was born in Bridgeton.
Mrs. Baker was a secretary for Gloucester County Civil Defense for 18 years before retiring in 1981. Previously, she was a nurse for the Burkett & Hutchinson medical practice in Woodbury.
During the Depression, she was a clerk-typist for the Gloucester County Works Progress Administration, doing work for the Gloucester County Historical Society and the Delaware Ordnance Department in Pedricktown.
During World War II, she was a teletype operator for the Army Air Corps Air Technical Service Command.
Mrs. Baker graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. She also graduated from the Marinello School of Beauty Culture as a teacher.
She was a past president of the American Legion Gloucester County Auxiliary, American Legion Higham Trautwein Unit 100 in Colonial Manor, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 2117 in Woodbury, and Military Order of Cooties Auxiliary 35. She was a past chapeau-past chaplain of the Gloucester-Salem County 61-8/40 and was a life member of Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary 64 in Gloucester County.
In addition, Mrs. Baker was a member of Catholic Daughters Queen of Reau 1398, Cabane Locale 507 40/8 Auxiliary, and the Colonial Manor Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughters, Dorothy Ollett and Elaine Navarra; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 10:30 a.m. today at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Cooper and Euclid Streets, Woodbury, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon. Burial will be in Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro.
