John H. Vogt was born on February 27, 1857 in Iowa to John M. and Mary Barbara Snider Vogt. John H. Vogt moved to Clark County, Ashland, Kansas. John H. Vogt married Philomenia Bouquot in Clark County, Ashland, Kansas at the Catholic Church at 8 o'clock a.m. on Monday, June 25, 1888 with Father Casey, administrator of the Wichita diocese, officiating.
CLARK COUNTY CLIPPER-ASHLAND, KANSAS-JUNE 28, 1888. John is one of our most industrious young German farmers, and we join with his many friends in wishing him unalloyed happiness and prosperity.
Philonenia Bouquot Vogt died on April 9, 1889 near Ashland, Kansas. She is buried in the Ashland Cemetery, Ashland, Kansas.
John was later found on Census in Woodward County, Curtis, Oklahoma. Here his was listed as a forman for the Railroad and he owned a livery stable with his brother in Curtis, Oklahoma. In the Woodward News-Woodward County, Woodward, Oklahoma Territory-Paper of November 20, 1896. John Vogt is again in the service of AT&SF Railroad.
At one time John owned a black horse with a bridle and saddle trimmed in silver.

John Vogt, who passed away at the Woodward Hospital last Friday morning, was buried Saturday. Services were held at the Community building, conducted by Rev. Howard Williams. Interment in the Curtis Cemetery.
OBITUARY-JOHN VOGT ANSWERS FINAL SUMMONS
Another county pioneer, John Vogt, age 80, of Curtis died last Thursday morning in the Woodward Hospital, where her had been taken for treatment of a kidney and bladder trouble. He had been ailing for a long time, although remained quite active until the last few weeks.
the funeral was held Saturday afternoon in Curtis. Interment in the Curtis Cemetery. Local undertaker R. J. Knittel had charge of the burial.
John Vogt was well known in this and Curtis communities. He was born in Iowa. Moved to Clark County, Kansas, in 1884, where his wife died in 1889. He came to Oklahoma at the opening of the Cherokee Strip. he had no children. He filed a homestead and claim on government land, north of Curtis. He later sold his homestead and moved to Curtis.
