Wayne was born July 16, 1926 in Illinois City, Illinois the son of Ed and Nona (Pullen) Reed. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Wayne was united in marriage to Mildred G. "Mickey" Benninger on March 2, 1951. She preceded him in death September 13, 1997.
Wayne had worked on the hotline at Alcoa retiring in 1992 following 37 years of service. He was a lifetime Chicago Cubs fan who enjoyed watching the games with his children and grandchildren. He was a big fan of warm weather and taking care of his plants, as well as sitting on his front porch.
Survivors include his children and their spouses: Wendy Sue (Gary) Dunn, Davenport, Laura Lynn (Sean) Smith, Blue Grass, Douglas Wayne Reed, Rock Island, Rodney Allen (Magen) Reed, Yuma, AZ, Matthew David (Erin) Reed, Bettendorf, and Brandon Lee (Margaret) Reed, Huntington Beach, CA; 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; his brother Dale Reed, Muscatine; as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents and 8 siblings.
