He was born in Abbeyville, Ga., and was a resident of northeast Florida for the past 65 years, having lived in Jacksonville, Keystone Heights, Melrose and Florahome. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Lee Cumbus. Surviving are three sons, Wilbur O. Cumbus of Florahome, Wendell F. Cumbus of Dunnellon and Melvin A. Cumbus of Port Judith, R.I.; two daughters, Patricia A. Moore of Interlachen and Linda J. Armey of Florahome; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2002 at the Paran cemetery of Grandin with the Rev. Steven Riddle of Florahome United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation hours are from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Masters Funeral Home of Interlachen.
