Carroll Eugene Shepard, the middle son of Carroll Eugene and Barbara Marie Pappas Shepard, was born on May 23, 1945, in Marshalltown, Iowa.

In high school, Corky was an altar server and a member of the Mixed Chorus and Schola. He graduated from St. Mary's High School, Marshalltown, in the Class of 1963, and attended Marshall County Community College.

He served in the United States Air Force, including 8 months in Thailand.

He was employed by Fisher Controls, Marshalltown, for 18 years.

Carroll married Linda Riggins, December 27, 1975, in Marshalltown.
They had 3 children:
Jeffrey L. Shepard
Laurie A. Rohde
Melissa J. Shepard

Younger brother:
Luverne (Vern) Merle Shepard

Corky died in a motorcycle accident 2.8 miles north of Decorah. At the time, his father lived in Decorah.

Memorial Services were in the Chapel at Pursel-Davis Funeral Home, with Salvation Army Major Eldon Rowland officiating.

A Memorial Bench is next to the lake in Riverside Cemetery, across from the office, with the inscription: "Heart of Glass."
