Guy Hillman Allbright Jr., 81, an optician who worked for Dr. Harry London in Arlington from the late 1940s to about 1990, died Aug. 6 at Inova Cameron Glen Care Center in Reston. He had cancer.

Mr. Allbright, a Vienna resident, was born in Dallas and raised in Ridgeway, a town in south-central Virginia near the North Carolina border.
He served in the Army Air Forces in the South Pacific during World War II and was in the 2nd Emergency Rescue Squadron. In retirement, he became the squadron historian.

He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Vienna and the Vienna police chief's advisory board. He was a former member of the Vienna mayor's advisory board and the board at Green Hedges, a private school in Vienna.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years; a son; a brother; and two granddaughters.
