He was born May 12, 1918, in Lebanon, to Henry and Edith (Conner) Eilenstine, who preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by his brothers, Lee, Floyd, Paul and Roy Eilenstine, and a sister, Pearl Rippy.
He taught school in the Lebanon area for 37 years, retiring in 1983. He was a graduate of Lebanon High School. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Southwest Missouri State University (MSU) and a Masters Degree from the University of Missouri. He received two Fellowships, one from Simpson University, Indianola, Iowa and the other from Miami University, Alford, Ohio.
He was a World War II veteran and a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Lebanon.
Survivors include two sisters, Hazel Dotson, of Lebanon, and Grace Davis and her husband, Millard, of Jackson, Tenn., also several nieces and nephews.
Services for Claude Eilenstine will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006, at Shadel's Colonial Chapel in Lebanon with the Rev. Gary Longenecker officiating.
Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery with Military Honors by V.F.W. Post No. 4107, under the direction of Shadel's Colonial Chapel of Lebanon.
