Arturo served in the Army during WWII. He married Mary Francis Gonzalez in 1962 in Santa Rosa. He was a carpenter and help build many homes in Santa Rosa, he was also a expert cabinet maker and a handyman. Arturo enjoyed fishing, hunting and he along with his wife Mary Francis helped raise his nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister and brother in law, Jim and Ernestine Ortega, nieces; Dolores Via and Jimmie Jo Ortega Lucero. Survivors include his wife Mary Francis Via of the family home in Santa Rosa, brothers and sisters; Gloria Reed of San Jon, Joann Griego, Adela Via, Esther Thompson all of Albuquerque and his brother Benito Via and wife Angelina of Santa Rosa, his brother in law; George Gonzalez and wife Deanna and Helen Gonzalez all of Santa Rosa and his cousin; Chemo Arrellin. Also surviving are his many loving nieces and nephews who spent countless hours with him along with a host of relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday, September11, at 11:30 from St. Joseph Cemetery in Santa Rosa with Father Joseph Thomas, CMI officiating.
