Paul Joseph Mackedanz, age 23, of Conroe, Texas, formerly of Cologne, Minnesota, passed away on Tuesday April 26, 2016, in Houston, Texas.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday May 4, 2016, at Immaculate Heart Of Mary Catholic Church (875 Manomin Avenue South) in St. Paul. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church (300 Church Street East) in Cologne and Wednesday one hour prior to the mass at Immaculate Heart Of Mary. Interment is in the St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery.
Paul was born on May 19, 1992, in Shakopee, Minnesota, and baptized into the Catholic faith on May 28. He has been a strong soldier for Christ and Our Lady by practicing and witnessing his faith all his short life.
Paul loved his family and friends and charmed everyone with his infectious and constant smile. He was always willing to help anyone in need. He never missed a chance to play with his nieces and nephews when they would see him.
Paul had many talents, including a good singing voice — he loved to sing everything. Most noted by many was his tenor voice in the Holy Family Chapel church choir.
He enjoyed all sports, but his favorites were volleyball and softball. Fishing, hunting, and boating were also among his favorite pastimes. When winter came, he couldn’t wait to hit the slopes with his snow board, and in spring, “throw down laps on his dirt bike”.
His career path in life was not fully formed at this time. He graduated high school in 2011 from Holy Family Academy in Belle Plaine, Minnesota. He attended Normandale Community College for the next two years. Following these two years, Paul worked at IdentiSys until joining his brother Benjamin at their current place of employment, Sewer Systems Services of Belle Plaine. Paul was assigned to the company venture in Houston, Texas, as supervisor. Paul became a resident of Texas about 1½ years ago where he was starting to make a new life and form new friendships. Paul will be missed by all.
Please include Paul in your prayers and pray for the repose of his soul. Paul’s family thanks you for your kind expressions of sympathy.
Paul was preceded in death by his grandparents, Vincent Mackedanz and Mary Ellen Vearrier; cousin, Jacob Vearrier; and aunt, Kimberly Vearrier.
Paul is survived by his loving family: parents, Bruce and Patricia Mackedanz of Cologne; sisters and brothers, Kristin (Dr. Dominic) Gagnon of Browerville, Theresa (Jacob) Dvorak of Plato, Benjamin (Megan) Mackedanz of Carver, Kathleen Mackedanz of Eden Prairie, Corine Mackedanz of Eden Prairie, Marissa Mackedanz of Cologne, Brendan Mackedanz of Cologne; nieces and nephews, John, Kathryn, Anthony, Thomas, Alexander, Vincent and Noah Gagnon; Adelyn, Blane, Slade, Jillian and Maura Dvorak; Maximilian and Charles Mackedanz; grandparents, Joan Mackedanz of Sauk Centre; Marvin Vearrier of Sauk Centre; aunts and uncles Patrick (Joanie) Mackedanz of Mora, Jerald (Anita) Vearrier of Osakis, Timothy (Colleen) Vearrier of Montana, Lisa (David) Beilke of Sauk Centre, James Vearrier of West Union; cousins, other relatives and friends.
