Parkerlyn Darsey died peacefully at the age of 86; three days before her 87th birthday. She passed away about 6:40pm at Hospice Atlanta in Brookhaven in Suite 10. Her death was a result of a stroke she had at her home in Tallapoosa, Haralson, GA.

Parkerlyn Florence Darsey, 86, of Tallapoosa, GA passed away April 26, 2016. Her memorial service will be held April 30, 2016 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens in College Park, GA. Visitation will occur at 10am with a memorial service at 11am. Mrs. Darsey was born in Orlando, FL on April 29, 1929 to the late Parker Haywood Florence and Louise Williams Florence. She received a degree from Shorter College in Rome, GA, and became a flight attendant with Delta Airlines on the DC-3 fleet. She married the late Joseph Frederick Darsey, Sr., and together they started Darsey Manufacturing Company, a men's clothing manufacturer and retailer which grew to over 700 employees in Haralson County, GA. After her husband's death in 1974, she became the President of the company until its sale to Hubbard Manufacturing Company.
Mrs. Darsey is preceded in death by her husband, Catherine Laurie Darsey Lyle (daughter), Stephen William Darsey (son), Judy Ann Couch Darsey (daughter-in-law), Joseph Frederick Darsey, III (grandson) and Jonathan Tyler Darsey (grandson). She is survived by her sons Joseph Frederick Darsey, Jr. and Jonathan Parker Darsey and daughter-in-law Donna Peters. Also called "Parky" and "Sister," she is survived by her siblings Betty Dicks, Buddy Florence, Gloria Whitney and Nancy Johnston and many others from her large, wonderful family on both the Darsey and the Florence sides.
