Linda Darnel Allen, 63, of the 900 block of W. Ocean View Ave., passed away Oct. 6, 2006, at DePaul Hospital. She was born March 8, 1943, in Norfolk and received her Ph.D. from New York University. She attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Linda worked at Brooklyn Hospital and most recently at Northside Cherokee Hospital in nuclear medicine. She was predeceased by her father, Reuben Wellons. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, John W.H. Allen of Norfolk; two sons, Brian Mandel of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Christopher Mandel (Eunice) of Chesapeake; her mother, Earlene Bailey Wellons; two brothers, Quinton Wellons of Brooklyn and Mark Wellons of Norfolk; one sister, Debra Wright (Alvin) of Clayton, N.C.; seven grandchildren; stepmother, Tina Wellons; mother-in-law, Margaret Allen; father-in-law, John Williams Allen Sr.; five sisters-in-law; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Metropolitan Funeral Service, 7246 Granby St. Father David McGuire will officiate. Interment will be at Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Family and friends will assemble at 3435 Foxfield Drive, Chesapeake, one hour prior to the service for the procession to the chapel.
