Charlotte Margarette Burge was born on October 10, 1924, the daughter and 2nd child of William John Burge and Caroline Catherine "Carrie" Staley Burge. She graduated from St. Justin High School, in the Mt. Washington neighborhood of the South Hills of Pittsburgh, a member of the Class of 1942.


Charlotte married Richard Joseph Walsh on January 9, 1946, at St. Justin's Catholic Church. They lived in Pittsburgh, then moved to Miami, where they lived at 7376 S. Waterway Dr.

Charlotte and Dick were blessed with 6 children:

Maureen, b. November 1, 1946

Charlotte Marie, b. September 4, 1948

Patricia Ann, b. May 7, 1950

Richard Joseph, b. February 12, 1952

Daniel Patrick, b. August 18, 1953

Michael Charles, b. June 3, 1964


Charlotte was a founding member of St. Brendan Catholic Church, in the Westchester neighborhood of Miami, Florida. She served on various committees in the parish and school.


A widow, Charlotte married Fred Stephen Marvin at St. Brendan's on June 14, 1978. Msgr. David E. Bushey was the celebrant.


After living for a few years in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Charlotte and Fred moved to Naples, Florida, where she was the coordinator for the Ministry of Praise at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. Charlotte was also a volunteer at the Naples Community Hospital, at an elementary school in the area, and was a longtime volunteer at "The Rose Garden," a pro-life second-hand store in Naples.


Charlotte and Fred moved to a condo in Miami in March, 2013, to be closer to Charlotte's family.


Charlotte passed away at the Baptist Hospital of Miami on August 26, 2014.


She is survived by her husband, Fred S. Marvin; by her children: Maureen (Frank) Palermo, Charlotte Marie (Jack) Fowler, Richard Joseph (Scarlett) Walsh, Daniel Patrick (Janeen) Walsh, and Michael Charles Walsh; by her grandchildren: Jenny (Robert) Fowler Perez-Abreu, Julie (Luis) Fowler Perdomo, Jeannie (Marco) Walsh Fabian, Richard J. Walsh III, Daniel Patrick (Eileen) Walsh, Jr., Andrew R. Walsh, Patricia M. Palermo, and Kellie S. Walsh; by her 9 great grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Kelsey, Tyler, Julia, Ashley, Jackie, Andy, Bobby, and Mylo, and by her sister, Mary LaVerne (William) Little.


She was predeceased by her first husband, Richard J. Walsh, Sr.; daughter, Patricia Ann; brother, William Joseph Burge; and sisters, Eileen Marie Unitas and Norma Jean Hochendoner.


Arrangements were by Riverside Gordon Memorial Chapels, Miami. Visitation was at St. Louis Catholic Church, Pinecrest, Florida, on Friday, August 29, 6 - 8 p.m., with Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 30, at St. Louis, with Fr. Paul Vuturo, celebrant. A Memorial Mass was celebrated later at St. Peter the Apostle Church in Naples, Florida. Donations were requested to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Brendan Catholic Church.
