When he was a teenager in England he helped with cleanup after WWII. He did this by lying about his age.
He married Jennette "Winnie" Hill and had 9 children: Carol, Harry, Betty, Billy, Mary Jean, Norman, Marilyn, Mike, and Tracey. He enjoyed westerns - both books and movies, and was never without his trusty handkerchief, and he always had a breast pocket full of pens.
He died of a suspected stroke on his daughter Betty's birthday in 2005.
