Geneva May Willford, 92, passed away peacefully at Christian Park Health Care Center in Escanaba on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, with loved ones at her side.
She was born in Gladwin County, Mich. on June 30, 1922, the daughter of John and Edna (Fries) Thorington.
On Jan. 22, 1940, she married the love of her life, Gordon L. Willford, in Gladwin.
She was employed with Ford Motor Company, was a lifetime farmer, and a member of Farm Bureau, living her entire life in Gladwin County.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Louis "Jake" (Deborah) Willford, James (Lana) Willford, John (Linda) Willford, and Donald Willford, all of Gladwin; Clara "Cookie" Edgar-Gascon (James Gascon) of Escanaba; and Ann (Gerald) Clayton of West Branch. Her children gave her 19 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving her is her brother, Harold Thorington of Gladwin, and sister, Carol Laughlin of Holly.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon L. Willford; parents, John and Edna Thorington; brother, Lewis Thorington; and sisters, Elnora Nettleton, Bonnie Irvin, and Betty Winters.
Funeral services were conducted by Pastor Phil Hortop on Monday, July 14, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Gladwin, Mich.
The family received friends on Sunday, July 13, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery, Gladwin, Mich.
