Passed away October 11, 2011 at home in Friendswood TX due to natural causes associated with complications of Types I and II Diabetes (Double Diabetes), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and blockage in the heart anterior decending artery (also called the widowmaker artery).


Family:

Married to Evelyn Jo (Whisenhunt) Guthery, a space exploration & scientific research engineer, December 23, 1971 - October 11, 2011.

Wedding was held at the Golden church of Christ, McCurtain County OK with a reception following at her parents' home in Glover. (Recorded in the McCurtain County Clerk's office and with the State of Oklahoma.)

Career:

In his 50's: Manager of Corporate Contracts Worldwide, Cameron International, Houston TX; Retired for a second time in 2009 after 5 years for health reasons.

In his 40's: Corporate Manager Air Liquide America, Corporate Office Houston TX in the Galleria; Retired in 2002 after 25 years due to health issues.

In his 30's: Bayport Complex Manager, Big 3-AirLiquide, Bayport TX [the youngest plant manager of the largest air separation complex in the world up to that time].

In his 20's: Big 3 Industries Inc., Maintenance Manager, Bayport Plant Complex, Bayport TX; supplier of feedstocks to oil refineries and petro-chemical plants throughout the United States, medical oxygen to the Texas Medical Center, and nitrogen & oxygen to the NASA launch complex at Cape Canaveral.

In his late teens and early twenties: Weyerhaeuser and Brown & Root construction - electrical construction in southeast Oklahoma/southwest Arkansas/Oxford, Mississippi, and electro-mechanical control systems in Dallas & Houston Texas.


Education:

Worked and paid his own way through college.

Management Certification, University of Texas at Austin

Enrolled in Electrical Engineering, Oklahoma State University (completed through first semester Senior, moved to Houston TX for newborn son's medical treatment at the beginning of second semester senior year)

Graduated summa-cum-laude with a double degree in Electro-Mechanical Technology and Electronics Technology, Eastern Oklahoma State; President of the Technology Club & a member of MuAlphaTheta Hon. Mathematics Society

Played first-string defense on the 1968-69 Savage football team that was first Runner-up state champions


Birth family:

Born at home on Lukfata Street in Broken Bow OK to Mark Guthery and Helen Hale. He grew up on Lukfata Street and attended Broken Bow Public Schools all 12 years. He had three full-siblings and two known older half-siblings by two different mothers.
