Mr. Richard W. Godwin, 66 of McRae, formerly of Quitman passed away April 2, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Godwin was born June 3, 1949 in Quitman. He was in the produce business and loved to fish and hunt. Mr. Godwin was always a joker and kidder, he will truly be missed. Survivors include his loving wife of one and a half years, Sharon Godwin of McRae; brothers, Leighton (Elaine) Godwin of Waycross, Keith Godwin of Valdosta, and Charles (Caroline) Godwin of High Spring, FL.; sisters, Sherry (Jerry) Barnes of Live Oak Fl., and Betty (Edward) Flowers of Waycross; dearest & closest friends, Peyton & Virginia McClendon of McRae, and Johnny & Gerri Senn of Jones Co.; nephews & nieces, Donnie Nelson, Rhuenette Nelson, Thomas & Dana Flowers of Perry, Lisa Law of Live Oak Fl, Bryan Godwin, Ethan Godwin, Chris Godwin, Thomas Ranow, Sean Ranow, Matt Flowers and Scott and Susie Smith of McRae, Ga. and a host of great nieces & nephews. Mr. Godwin was preceded in death by his son, Jaime Godwin, father & mother, Harris Ellis Godwin and Willie Belle Parker Godwin; brother, Ellis Godwin; aunt Ruth Godwin. He was a loving caring husband, father, brother, uncle and great uncle. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Maxwell-Miller Funeral Home with Pastor Bert Hickman officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
