Author and poet. Acton was amongst those known as Bright Young Things or "what-a-setters" in the 20's and 30's in aristocratic England. Son of American Hortense Mitchell and Englishman Arthur Mario Acton. Brother of fellow aesthete William Acton. Friends with Brian Howard, Nancy and Diana Mitford, Cecil Beaton, Mark Ogilvie Grant and Robert Byron. Co-founded Eton Society of the Arts and Eton Candle with Brian Howard. Also founded the Oxford Broom literary magazine. Had an affair with author Evelyn Waugh at Oxford.
