GERRY, NY ~ Raymond W. Anderson, 88, formerly of East Liverpool, has transitioned into heaven on Saturday, September 30, 2006, following a lengthy illness.

Born in East Liverpool February 12, 1918, the son of the late Orville Richard Anderson and Elva Starling Anderson, he spent most of his life in East Liverpool along with several years in Nebraska . The last 17 years he and his wife, Martha, have lived independently at the Heritage Village Retirement Campus in Gerry, New York.

He was an active member of the Oakland Free Methodist Church in East Liverpool for over 55 years.

He attended the Gerry Free Methodist Church in Gerry, NY for the past 17 years.

An Army Veteran of World War II, he served with the Military Police in Berlin, Germany.

His early employment was at the Torrence & Craig grocery store. Later he began a 35-year career as a painter for Rutter & Sons; then Hollis Logue and the Painters Union. He was a lifetime member of the International Brotherhood of Painters. After retirement, he and Martha enjoyed several winters in Naples, FL. He was an avid shuffleboard player during his retirement years. He thoroughly enjoyed time spent with children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving devoted wife of over 65 years, Martha Sayre Anderson; their children Marvin and Nancy (Rudibaugh) Anderson of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; Ginnie Rae (Anderson) and Roger Jarvis of Rochester, NY; Joan (Anderson) and John Mitchell of Wellsburg, WV; Rick and Regina (Barnhart) Anderson of East Liverpool. He also has 7 surviving grandchildren, most of them married adding to their happy family; and expecting their 16th great-grandchild.

Also surviving is his sister Bernadine Johnson, cousin, Herman Anderson and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one sister, Norma Campbell.

Friends and relatives may call at the Dawson Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 3, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm , where the family will be present. The memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 4, at Dawson Funeral Home. Pastor Harold Haire of the Free Methodist Community Church in new Middletown, OH and former Pastor of the Oakland Free Methodist Church will be conducting the memorial service. He will be assisted by Raymond's grandson, Bud Mitchell, Pastor of Youth of the Brooke Hills Free Methodist Church in Wellsburg, WV , and Pastor Mike Kramer of the Oakland Free Methodist Church.

Burial will follow in Columbiana County Memorial Park .
