He was born April 12, 1945 in Del Rio, Texas, son of the late Andres C. and Isabel (Perez) Alvarez.
Leonardo worked as a machinist with Fraser Manufacturing. He loved playing music with his brothers in their family band, thrift shopping, barbequing, joking and most of all being around his family.
Leo is survived by his son Leonardo A. Alvarez, Jr. of Fort Gratiot and a daughter Delia Gomez of Dallas, Texas. Two brothers Juan (Celia) Alvarez, Sr. of Croswell, Alejandro (Alice) Alvarez,Sr. of Croswell and a sister Guadalupe Pesina of Croswell, a step brother Emiliano Hernandez of Lansing, three step sisters Juanita Reyna of Port Huron, Andrea Willars of Illinois and Arsenia Jimenez of Lansing. Two grandsons Fernando Gomez, Jr. and Gabriel Gomez. Many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews. Several cousins. He was preceded in death by two brothers Jesus Hernandez and Salvador Hernandez, Sr. and two sisters Cruz Lopez and Guadalupe Sanchez.
Visitation will be from 2-9 on Tuesday at the Pomeroy Funeral Home in Croswell, Funeral Mass will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday at Ave Maria Parish-St. Patricks Catholic Church in Croswell with visiting at the church from 10-11 on Wednesday. Fr. Donald J. Eppenbrock will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Croswell.
Pallbearers will be Amos Alvarez, Juan P. Alvarez, Jr., Jacob Aldrich, Juanito Alvarez III, Frank Pesina, Ed Pesina, Jr. and Adrian Pesina.
