"A ceremony to honor his life will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Northwestern High School.

Visitation is Monday, March 28, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Northwestern High School. The funeral is Tuesday, March 29, at 11 a.m. at the high school. Burial will follow at Albright Cemetery in Kokomo."

Carl Koontz ObituaryCarl A. Koontz, 26, Kokomo, passed away at 11:10 a.m. Sunday, March 20, 2016, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born April 8, 1989, in Kokomo, the son of Allen P. and Jackie Koontz. On April 27, 2013, he married Kassandra Summer Floyd, and she survives.

Carl was a 2007 graduate of Western High School and received his bachelor's degree in business finance in 2011 from Indiana University Kokomo. He graduated from the Police Academy on July 22, 2013. Carl started with the Howard County Sheriff's Department on July 15, 2013, and was a member of the F.O.P. Carl had worked for Marsh Supermarkets as a butcher.

Carl is survived by his wife, Kassandra S. Koontz, Kokomo; son, Noah Allendale Koontz; parents, Allen and Jackie Koontz; sister, Alice Koontz; grandparents, Ann and Allen Koontz, and Alice and Carl Durham; mother- and father-in-law, Sherry and Jerry Floyd; sister-in-law, Lindsay Floyd; niece, Vaida Arwood; aunts and uncles, Paul "Butch" Casteel, Mike Casteel, Danny (Glenda) Casteel, Diane "Miss" Howard and John (Mitzi) Koontz; and several cousins.

Carl was preceded in death by his uncles, Lt. Don Howard and Gary Rhinebarger.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Northwestern High School, 3431 N. 400 West, with Steve Cole officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday at the high school.
