married 21 Jun 1861, Des Moines Co., IA to Sophia Painter Bridwell b.4 May 1839, Ross Co., OH, d. 12 Feb. 1912, Mediapolis, daughter of Martin & Mary (Heizer) Bridwell.
Children: Minnie A, Martha L "Mattie", Mark Judson, & Nellie Meyers Seeds.
Ref: Wednesday, 8 Apr. 1925, Mediapolis New Era, Mediapolis, IA -- It is not often that within less than three weeks the death of an entire family is chronicled in the paper, but such is the case when we tell of the death of M. J. Seeds, which occurred at the Soldiers Home at Marshalltown last Sunday morning at 8 o'clock. On Tuesday, March 17th, Mrs. P. E. Lischer died at Douglas, Arizona, and on Saturday, March 28, Mark J. Seeds passed away at the sanitarium at Ottumwa. These were the only two children of M. J. Seeds. He was here for the funeral of his daughter, but was not able to return when his son passed away. He had not been well since returning to the Home and gradually failed until the end came Sunday, April 5, 1925.
P. E. Lischer went to Marshalltown to spend Sunday with him, and not knowing he was any worse, and arriving at Marshalltown at an early morning hour, went to the hotel, as he did not care to go out to the Home very early. When he did go to the Home expecting to have a visit with Mr. Seeds, he was shocked to learn that he had passed away while he had been at the hotel.
The remains arrived here Monday evening and were taken to the Charles B. Pilling home.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by his pastor, Rev. J. S. Decker. Interment was made in the Kossuth cemetery.
Milton Jamison Seeds was born October 24, 1838, near Columbus, OH, moving to this community at an early age.
On June 4, 1861, he was married to Sophia Bridwell. To this union were born four children: Minnie, Mattie, Mark and Nellie, all of whom with the wife and Mother, have passed on before him.
He served his country during the Civil War. The rest of his life was spent in Mediapolis and with his daughter, Mrs. Lischer, near here.
From youth he has been affiliated with the Methodist Church.
The deceased is survived by three sisters: Mrs. Melinda Bridwell, of Brighton, IA; Mrs. Jenny Sterns, of Corning, IA; and Mrs. Charles B. Pilling, of this place.
