Growing up in the small farming community of Prairie, and being part of a large family, Lucille learned to work hard at a very young age. At eight years old she experienced the harsh realities of life when her mother died.
On August 16, 1935 Lucille married J. Sterling Grigg. They lived in several locations in southwestern Idaho. She was the loving, devoted and selfless mother of eleven children. Her living legacy includes forty two grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
Caring and providing for the large family was a major accomplishment, consuming all her time and effort. Her love for the outdoors was met in gardening and fishing. She worked alongside her children in the fields hoeing beets, hops and topping corn. Lucille enjoyed birds, watching and feeding them daily. Later in life she hunted for pretty rocks to put into jewelry. She loved drawing and painting. After the children were raised, Lucille sewed in the upholstery business for 11 ½ years. One of her goals she accomplished was to travel all 50 states.
Lucille’s sense of humor was a breath of fresh air to all of us. Her faith in Jesus Christ as her personal Savior exemplifies the Amazing Grace He freely gives.
Lucille is survived by her children, Helen Pooley Henderson, Lois Concidine, Charlotte Gilbert (Franklin), Loyd Grigg (Sharon), Aaron Grigg (Kerry), Ammon Grigg, Jill Ripley (Rick), Phyllis Bailey (Kevin), and Sterling Grigg (Robin); daughters-in-law, Una Grigg and Paula Grigg; forty two grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, J. Sterling; sons, Amory and Larry Grigg; her parents; five brothers; three sisters; sons-in-law, Warren Concidine, Don Pooley and Bill Henderson; and grandson, Nathan Pooley.
