Susanna Barbara Schwartz was born on May 21, 1778, in Oley, Pennsylvania (Berks County) to parents George and Elizabeth Nein Schwartz. She married Samuel Breneisen at the First Reformed Church in Reading on February 18, 1799.

Samuel and Susanna lived in Reading (Berks County), and then lived both in Adamstown and Reamstown (Lancaster County). Samuel and Susanna were innkeepers at the Rogers Tavern in Adamstown, and Samuel also made good quality tall clocks.

After Samuel’s death in 1837, Susanna lived in Reamstown and was, according to Salem Union Church of Reamstown records, a regular communicant from 1862 to 1867. The 1850 census indicated she was living with son, William, and family, and by the 1860 census, she was living with granddaughter, Adeline Killian Grimes and her husband. According to a newspaper report, she passed away in 1869 at the home of her daughter, Sarah and her husband, Emmanuel Killian, after being widowed for 32 years.

Susanna is buried beside Catherine Slote, wife of Daniel Slote. Daniel Slote/Schlott was the brother of John Slote, husband of Susanna and Samuel's daughter, Catherine Breneiser Slote.
