Joanne V. Alcorn, 74, of B'Nai Brith in Peoria, passed away at 4:41 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2006 at her home.
She was born on October 14, 1931 in Peoria, daughter of Wallace A. and Viola C. Lauterbach Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Cathy Jo Schermer and one son, Steven Schermer.
Surviving are two sons, Michael D. of Bloomington, IL. and Scott (Caroline) of Morongo Valley, CA; one grandson, Michael B. of Morongo Valley, CA and one brother, Dean W. (Judith) of Peoria.
Joanne worked in the grocery businesses in the Bartonville and Peoria area. She also worked as a office manager for Air-Land at the Peoria Airport.
She had attended MacMurray College in Jacksonville, IL. She was also a longtime member of the Peoria Emblem Club and she volunteered much of her time working with abused and battered women at Women's Strength in Peoria.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria, the Rev. Dr. Philip D. Lund will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
