Gladys Atterberry

Gladys Atterberry, 85, of Fulton, Missouri passed away on Monday, February 29, 2016 at University of Missouri Medical Center in Columbia, Missouri.

Gladys was born April 16, 1930, in Yucatan, Missouri on the Hoover homestead, the daughter of Andrew Hoover and Annie Mae (Newsom) Hoover. She was married to Paul Frederick Atterberry Sr. in 1948.

She worked as a seamstress at Bell Master and had a hand in raising lots of Callaway County children, including numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gladys is survived by her siblings, Merle Hoover of Fulton, Missouri, Marcella Houchins, and Elizabeth Hamblin of Holts Summit, Missouri, Linda Rogers of Belleville, Illinois., and Juanita Talley of Columbia, Missouri; also survived by her children, Paul Frederick and Patty Atterberry Jr., David A. Atterberry (Carlene), Rosemary Fletcher (Bill), Roger Atterberry (Amita), Jerry Atterberry (Lisa), all of Fulton, Missouri; one foster son, Joe Masek (Debbie); grandchildren, Jeff Schoening, Aaron Atterberry, Derek Atterberry, Brandy Coffelt, Jeremy Atterberry, Michael Atterberry, Amy Hampton, Jenny Champion, Emily Darko, Randy Atterberry, Darrell Atterberry, Crystal Atterberry, Richard Atterberry, Tabitha Atterberry, Chad Atterberry, Dalton Atterberry, Mateo and Belen Robbins, Shelly and Kim Basnett, and Brendon Crabill; special friend, Shirley Elliot of Granbury, Texas; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; one son, Don Atterberry; siblings, Andrew Hoover, Carley Hoover, Burt Hoover, Donald Hoover, Merlen Hoover, Mattiebell Hollaway, Boyd Hoover, and Ida Bell Davis; grandchildren, Misty Atterberry and Shawn Basnett; and great-grandchild, Sabrina Champion.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Bill Oswald officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens.
