John M. Vogt was born in Prussia on Wednesday, August 3, 1814. John M. Vogt came to America and settled in Iowa. John married Mary Barbara Snider before 1857. She was born about 1830 in Germany, and died before April-1869 in Iowa. They had five children: Mathias Vogt, John H. Vogt, Mary Vogt, Peter Vogt and Frank Vogt. We haven't been able to find a marriage record for John and Mary Barbara Snider Vogt or a record of Mary Barbara's death.
John Vogt married Anna Brichacova on April 17, 1869 in Johnson County, Iowa. Their marriage record is in Johnson County Court House Iowa City, Iowa, Book 3 and page 372. The marriage, birth and death records can be found at the Johnson County Recorder Office in the County Admisistration Building at 913 S. Dubuque Street Suite 202 , 4 blocks south on Clinton Street from the Court House. John and Anna had eight children: Simon Joseph Vogt, Anna Roselie Vogt, Theresa "Tracy" Vogt, Elizabeth Agnes Vogt, William T. Vogt, Edward Vogt, Clara Philomene Vogt, and Frances Matilda Vogt.
The Naturalization Papers for John Vogt are in Johnson County, Iowa City, Iowa in Book of 1861-68 on page 378. We were unable to get a photo copy of the Naturalization Papers so we copied the them in longhand and later typed them into the computer.
John was a farmer in near Riverside, Washington County, Iowa. In the Library at Washington, Iowa in the Chattel Mortgage Book C page 444 on January 11, 1878, John Vogt sold 24 head of shoats to Patterson & Rheinart to pay on a note dated October 1, 1876. Chattel Mortagage Book F page 239 December 10, 1881, in the Washington Library, Washington, Iowa Mathias Vogt of Iowa Township, Washington County, Iowa bargain sell and convey unto John Vogt of County and State above mentioned two work horses descibed as follows; One Bay Mare blind in both eyes ten years old white spot in face; also one Bay Horse twelve to fourteen years old. The condition of the above sale is such that where as the said John Vogt is security on a certain promissory note with Mathias Vogt calling for fifty dollars payable to John Busby.
The land listed in John's Will #1073 is North West Quarter of North East Quarter and the North East Quarter of the North West Quarter of Section 32 Township 77 North of Range 6 West. In Book 14 page 579 filed January 26, 1889 at the Washington County Court House, Iowa we found reference to the and going to Patterson & Rheinart from a Sheriff Sale (but we couldn't find any record of the Sheriff Sale).
John M. Vogt's Will states that he gives real estate, residence and remainder of personal estate to his wife, Anna K. Vogt with the exception of Mathias Vogt, John H. Vogt, Mary Vogt, and Peter Vogt. which he was giving $5.00 apiece at the empiration of ten years from date of Will, October 31, 1887.
John M. Vogt died on November 13, 1887 in Washington County, Riverside, Iowa and is buried in the Mount Olviet Catholic Cemetery, Riverside, Iowa.

John renounce forever all allegiance to any foreign Prince, Potentate, State of Sovereignty whatso ever , and particularly to Frederick William King of Prussia on the Naturalization Paper. John's grave stone in the Mount Olviet Catholic Cemetery at Riverside, Iowa and death recordat the Library in Washington County, Iowa gives date of birth as August 3, 1814. Death Source: The Washington County, Iowa death record at the Court House and Library give the date of death as November 13, 1887. John's Will #1073 at the Washington County Court House is dated October 31, 1887. The date on John's grave stone is wrong (it says 1886). The information on the John M.
