Norstedt was born in Örgryte, Gothenburg but arrived early at Gislaved in Småland. He was the son of Mary Pettersson and Stig Norstedt. He had four siblings, all of whom have different fathers. Norstedt dreamed early on of becoming a musician and bought his first guitar at age 15. In the 1960s, he played in several bands, among other things, a cover band from Tidaholm who have met with little success. During the early 1970s, they were transformed into dance band Anders Norstedts orchestra. Before Norstedt tried an own career, he supported himself during the latter part of the 1970s as a songwriter to other dance bands, such Streaplers, Trio me 'Bumba and Tommy Elf. His first album he released in 1975. After a while unofficially have called himself Eddie Nowels (a conscious 'Swedish' "Knowles", that he could maintain his initials), he got the idea for his stage name Eddie Meduza from a nature program about jellyfish. CBS Records AB contracted him in 1979 for the album Eddie Meduza & The Roaring Cadillacs a fifteen-year-old John Norum on guitar. The album was a success. Eddie Meduza was very productive and wrote until his death over 900 different songs and skits distributed on nearly 90 albums and cassettes. Much, however, has not been published when he was both self-critical and liberal with his material and is said to have distributed the tapes with unreleased as gifts for fans. The first cartridges is today coveted collectibles. 2002 Norstedt died of a heart attack. The son Anders Norstedt told that the ashes of his father the summer of 2003 spread beyond Rossö in the Koster Fjord, one mil south of Stromstad.
