Donald Ray Shirey, 57, of Dickinson died Saturday at his residence. Mr. Shirey was a retired security officer with the U.S. Air Force. He was a veteran of the Air Force, having served in the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a past owner of the Cherry Hill Club in Texas City, and was a lieutenant with Pinkerton Security in Pasadena.

He was born on September 2, 1932, in Haynesville, LA to the late Ernest Bunion Shirey (1907-1968) and Tiny Shirey (Deceased).

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Fortin-Jamroga-Phillips-Shirey (1929-2016) of Dickinson, TX; daughter, Donna Shirey-Marker of Centerville, VA; stepdaughters, Patricia Jamroga-Krolak-Greene of District Heights, MD, and Pamela Jamroga-Belville of Dickinson, TX; son, Steve Shirey (Deceased) of Denver, CO; stepsister, Sadonia Owen of Pasadena, TX; brother, Jack Shirey (Deceased) of Dickinson, TX; stepbrother, Lank Simmons of Dickinson; and five grandchildren.

Services are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at James Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson. The Rev. J. Morris will officiate. Burial with full military honors will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster. Visitation is set for 5:00 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be members of the Dickinson V.F.W. Post No. 8566.
