A retired secretary for Auserehl and Son, Jamaica, NY and a 26 year resident of Newburgh, NY died Saturday at Sylcox Nursing Home, Newburgh. She was 75. The daughter of the late Frederick and Emilie (Mantei) Kuise, she was born in Brooklyn. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walden and Friends of the Blind, Newburgh. She was the widow of Wendell Tripp. Survivors include one daughter, Joan Owen Davidow Kirbach of Colden Park.
My Aunt Marie was the only divorced woman I knew of in the 1950's. She married Louis Owen and had one daughter, my cousin Joanie. She lived in Middle Village with her mother Emily and daughter Joanie during the 50's and married Wendell Tripp in the 60's. She had one brother, Fred, who died when he was 18. Her parents & brother are buried in All Faiths Lutheran Cemetery in Queens. Joanie passed away suddenly in 2004,at the age og 59, leaving no children. She was cremated and her ashes placed on her mother's grave.
