OBITUARY - Final Tribute Paid Utah Pioneer of 1853, Early Idaho Settler, John Marton (sic), Preston Ida., Feb. 8.-(Special)
The funeral of John Marton (sic), 86, who died Sunday at his home, was held in the Preston Sixth ward chapel today. Interment was in Preston City cemetery.
Mr. Marton (sic) was born in England in 1841, and he came to the United States in 1850 settling in Mississippi where he buried his mother.
He moved to Utah in 1855 and settled in Grantsville where he married Kate Burton. He was then called on a mission to Idaho and settle in Liberty, Idaho, Bear Lake county, from there he moved to Preston in 1881.
He has always been active in civic and Church affairs.
His widow and the following children survive: Mrs. Rosuthua Earley, Mrs. Pricella (sic) Beckstead, Mrs. Anna Eliza Hollingworth (sic) Mrs. Ella Petterburg, Mrs. Maude Meacham, William B., and Ezra Marton (sic).
