Mr. Peter O’Malley, of Parknoll Lane in Port Washington, passed away at Lawlis Family Hospice Center in Mequon early Sunday morning, February 14, 2016 at the age of 65 years.

Peter was born in New Ulm, MN on March 10, 1950, son of James and Marcella Groebner O’Malley. He attended local schools and graduated From Columbia Heights High School, Class of 1968. Pete proudly served his country in the US Army and was stationed in Viet Nam. After his return, Pete earned his bachelor’s degree at University of Minnesota before coming to work in Milwaukee at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center as a physical therapist and later as a Kinesiotherapist.

He was united in marriage with Susan Calteaux in 1983. The couple moved to Port Washington in the mid 1980’s. Mr. O’Malley retired from his job at the VA after 22 years. Pete was a member of St. Peter’s of Alcantara Catholic Church in Port Washington, and a Viet Nam Veterans group known as Dryhootch. He enjoyed playing tennis, golf, traveling and collecting antiques.

Mr. O’Malley is survived by two daughters, Jennifer (Drew) James of Lawrence, KS and Kimberly O’Malley of Port Washington. He is also survived by grandchildren Corinne Benalcazar and Thatcher James, both of Lawrence, KS, and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of a third grandchild in August. Further survivors include brother Tom (Kathy) O’Malley of Virginia, MN, sisters Joan (Wayne) Gulbranson and Susan (Rick) Strandlund , both of Blaine, MN, brother-in-law Ray Dudziak of Columbia Heights, MN, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Jim O’Malley and sister Sheila Dudziak.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30AM on Friday, February 19th at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington. Father Patrick Wendt will preside. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Friday from 9:30-10:30AM. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.

Memorials are suggested in Pete’s name to Dryhootch, 1030 E. Brady St., Milwaukee, WI 53202.
