WILLIAM JASPER McCOY, son of William McCoy and Nancy Barnett McCoy, was born in Monroe County, Indiana, on May 6, 1852, and departed this life at the home of his son,
William in Hartville, Missouri, on April 26, 1942 at the age of 90 years,1 month and 2 days.
At six years of age he came to Missouri with his parents, where he spent the remainder of his life. He lived in the Mayfield Township in Laclede County from sometime in the 1870's through the 1900's or longer. He lived in Hartville the last eight years of his life.
He was married to Rachel Henry on June 26, 1973 and to this union were born eight children. A son, John, died January 20, 1904; daughter Rilda Webster, died Aug. 12, 1927; and the eldest daughter, Amanda Barnett died Aug 18, 1937 in
Richland, MO. Those surviving are: William of Hartville, Emma Moody of Hartville; Sarah Campbell of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Susan Martin of East St. Louis, ILL., Mary Henne of Neosho. Also surviving is Earnest, a son of late marriage
on Mar 24, 1884 to Elizabeth (Betty) Pritchett. Earnest lives in Oklahoma.
Also surviving are 40 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. Jasper was a member of the United Baptist Church for years. Funeral
services were conducted in the Hartville Church by Rev. . R. Bogart on Wednesday at1: P.M. Internment was at Oaklawn Cemetery, Richland, MO
