Services for Roy Cates Jr., 64, of Cement were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 8, in Laverty Baptist Church, east of Cement, with Rev. Kenyon Bush, pastor, and Rev. Alvin Roberts, pastor of the Cement Pentecostal Holiness Church, officiating.
Mr. Cates was born September 10, 1929 in Cement and died Thursday, August 4, '1994 in a Cyril nursing home.
He lived in the Cement area all of his life and married Minnie Evelyn Holmes June 16, 1950 in Laverty. He retired in 1989 from Mobil Oil Co., after 32 years. He was a farmer and rancher. Mr. Cates was a member of the Laverty Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three daughters; Sandy Cornwell of Fletcher; Debra Jackson of Cyril and Pam Wiggins of Cement; a son, Mike of Cement; his mother, Ada Adell Cates of Cement; two sisters; Gwen Zachary and Linda Lynn both of Cement, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Burial was in Laverty Cemetery under direction of Robbins Funeral Home.
