Son of Neil Shaw and Shirley Cooper. The youngest of five children, Stuart struggled with school, being bullied on several occasions. He later returned to Kings College, Warrnambool, where he experienced a wonderful educational experience.

For the last four years he was a member of the Australian Army, completing his training at Kapooka just south of Wagga Wagga, NSW. He was the fittest soldier in platoon. His latest Defence Force posting was Townsville Queensland. He was diagnosed with a rare form Leukemia in July, 2015.

Stuey loved to travel and enjoyed New York and other places in the USA as well as many other countries including snow skiing in France.

Stuey is loved immensely by his mother and father, two brothers, Andrew, Cameron, and two sisters, Elisa and Sally as well as nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and many friends.

Stuart is buried in the same cemetery as his grandmother, Joan Ellen Cooper (1924-2004).
