George J. Enderlin

YOUNTVILLE—George J Enderlin, a former Calistoga resident, died Monday at the Veterans Home where he had lived since 1975. He was 87.

Mr. Enderlin was a native of San Francisco and grew up in Lower Lake. After completing school he worked at the University Farm in Davis for six years doing farm work, including the tending of horses and mules.

He served in the U.S. Army field artillery in France during World War I and was part of the Army Occupation forces.

He came to Calistoga in 1920 and returned to agricultural work. He married Alta Tebow, formerly of Kansas. Following his retirement after 42 years, the Enderlins moved to Lower Lake. Mrs. Enderlin died there and Mr. Enderlin returned to the Napa Valley to live at the Veterans Home.

Mr. Enderlin was active in Masonic work for 64 years. He belonged to the Order of Easter [sic] Star, the Amaranth and the Farm Bureau.

Survivors include sons Roy and Arnold of Calistoga, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Community Presbyterian Church, Calistoga, with Elmer Hoffner of Calistoga Lodge 233 F&AM and the Rev. Ernest Volkman officiating.

The family prefers memorial contributions to the Masonic Home or to the Lung Association of the Redwood Empire, 65 Montgomery Drive, Santa Rosa.

Morrison Funeral Chapel. Calistoga, was in charge of arrangements.
