Janet Lynn Steffen, 57, passed away Tuesday, Dec 23, 2015, in Arlington. Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Interment: DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Wade Family Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cook Children's Health Foundation. Janet was born March 8, 1958 in San Antonio to Joan and Marion Jacob. She retired from the Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD where she taught at-risk students English, history, social studies and economics. Janet enlisted in the Texas Army National Guard after graduation from UTA. She held various positions with the battalions of the 49th Armored Division Support Command retiring from 3rd Brigade Headquarters in 2001. She was a Distinguished Honor Graduate of her Officer Basic Course in Aberdeen, Md., in 1990. Janet was an active member of Trinity United Methodist church in Arlington, where she enjoyed volunteering, participating in her Sunday school group, and attending Impact service. She was beloved and adored by all who came to know the amazing and beautiful woman she was. Janet was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Marion "Trip"; and her sister, Christie. Survivors: Husband, Don Steffen; son Richard "Trip" and wife, Carolyn; daughter, Katie; and many friends.
