Voncile Bullock

Mrs. Voncile "Bonnie" Bullock, 84, died Sunday, September 20, 2015, at home with her family.

Mrs Bullock, daughter of the late Julius and Alois Bowman, was born May 5, 1931, in Lincoln County Mississippi. She graduated from Lincoln County Training School in 1949 and then attended Alcorn University.

She met and later married Clifton V. Bullock, September 28, 1951, he preceded her in death Wednesday, February 27, 1991.

Bonnie was an active member of Washington Heights United Methodist Church for almost 40 years. She was appreciated for her gracious hospitality and enjoyed cooking. She was affectionately called Mama Bullock by members of the church and received frequent requests to make her delicious peach cobbler. She expressed her creativity in flower gardening and quilting.

She actively participated with Washington Heights Annual Thanksgiving Day Community Meal and was an active supporter of the CROP Walk Annual Event. In 1989 the Battle Creek Chapter of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women selected her the Sojourner Truth Award Recipient, for meritorious community service.

Survivors include, son, Chad Bullock, Kalamazoo, daughter Vidette (Maurice) Mixon, New York, New York, son-in-law Michael (Brenda) Joseph, New Orleans, Louisiana, daughter-in-law Diane Bullock, Dallas, Texas, stepson, Charles (Bertha) Carter, Muskegon, Michigan, sister, Ruby Lee Lewis, Detroit, Michigan, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by, her son, Ivan Bullock, 2011, daughter, Kim Bullock Joseph, 1993, and her brother, Alvin Moore.

Visitation at T M Hughes-Perry Mortuary, Thursday, September 24, 2015, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Funeral Services, 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 25, 2015, First United Methodist Church, 111 East Michigan Avenue, Battle Creek, Reverend Marshall Murphy, Officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Friday at the church.

Donations may be made to the Clifton Bullock Scholarship Fund, Battle Creek Community Foundation or Washington Heights United Methodist Church.

Interment, Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan.
