Pereira passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family. She was the daughter of automobile pioneer E.L. Cord and Virginia Cord. Following her graduation from the Graham-Eckes School in Palm Beach FL, Susan went to Stanford University, graduating in 1961 with a Bachelors degree in History. In 1961 Susan met and married William Lee Pereira Jr., son of renowned architect William L. and Margaret Pereira, and the couple embarked on a long and wonderful journey which took them from Los Angeles to Laguna Beach CA, Santa Ynez CA, Sun Valley ID, and finally to Reno NV. Susan was known for her entrepreneurial spirit and generosity. Her great passion was Arabian horses, and among their other various ventures, which ranged from airlines to minor league baseball, Susan and Bill founded Pereira Arabians which, during the 1970s and 1980s was one of the most successful and respected Arabian horse breeding farms in the U.S.
