SHREVEPORT, LA – Funeral services for James “Jimmy” E. Alexander, Jr., 83, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home.

Interment at Forest Park East, St. Vincent Avenue. Officiating will be Bro. Harry Forester.

Jimmy was born on May 26, 1932 in Shreveport to James “Aleck” and Ann Alexander and passed away on January 17, 2016 after a lengthy illness.

Jimmy was a lifelong resident of Shreveport. He led a full, rich life. He proudly served his country in the US Navy and was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Masons and the American Legion. Jimmy enjoyed interacting and giving back to his community. As a young man Jimmy had a passion for acting and entertainment. He was an extra in several movies and will always be remembered as the “Mechanical Man.” Later in life Jimmy was instantly recognizable in area night clubs and restaurants, where he sold flowers and brought his unique style to this area with his larger than life personality. He loved fishing and spending time on the water. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 42 years, Margaret Skinner Alexander; son James E. Alexander III; step-children, Tommy Parks, Katie Lee, Amanda Lewis, and Zilda Bordelon; grandchildren, Sabrina Alexander, Brooke Alexander and numerous step-grandchildren.
