Everett Amelang, 80 of Sioux Falls, SD, formerly of Ottumwa IA, died Sept. 27, 2002, at home.
He was born April 11, 1922, in Floris IA to Edward And Bessie Dyer Amelang. He married Maxine Cole Dec. 5 1946, in Ottumwa IA.
He was a resident of Ottumwa until 1973, when he moved to Sioux Falls, SD. He worked at John Morrell & Company 36 years, retiring in 1981.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Charles "Eddie" and Jerry Amelang , both of Sioux Falls, SD; two daughters, Nancy Barnett of Ottumwa and Cathy Walz of Freeman SD; five grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; and three sisters, Marie Boas of Floris, Mary Skinner of Grand Junction, Colo., and Betty Fowler of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by a son, Dwight Amelang; a sister, Annie Smith; and three brothers, Albert, Frank and Carl Amelang.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with the Rev, Joseph Shimko of Free Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation will begin after 11 a.m. today at the funeral home with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Richard Davis, Aaron Barnett, Jason Nevins, Dewain Cole, Mike Fowler and Roy Boas.
Honorary pallbearers will be Pamela and Zachary Malcom, Dawn and Haylie Nevins, Nathan Walz and James Cain.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the family.
