CHARLEY SCHLARB OBITUARY
Charley Tilford Schlarb was born February 18, 1900 in Wilson, Kansas and died in the Fairview Hospital January 5, 1972 at the age of 71 years 10 months and 17 days.
Charley came with his parents, Joseph Edward and Orpha Ellen Schlarb, to the Dacoma, Oklahoma area when he was a small child. Charley was married to Letha Wolf April 4, 1921 at Alva, Oklahoma and to this union eight children were born. Charley and his family moved to the Chester community about forty-nine years ago where he resided until his death. For the past twenty years he was engaged in well drilling and prior to that had operated a saw mill. Charley and Letha celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary April 4, 1971 with a Open House at their home in Chester, Oklahoma.
Charley is survived by his wife Letha of the home; five daughters: Annamae Springer of Aline, Oklahoma; Tillie Pearl Hood of Pueblo, Colorado; Billie Ellen Pendergraft of Kelso, Washington; Oma Lorene Hand of Chanute, Kansas and Mary Lou Wheatley of Kelso, Washington; three sons, Charles Stanley of Kelso, Washington; Glenn Alfred of Alva, Oklahoma; and Jimmie Dean of Longdale, Oklahoma; 32 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; five sisters; Oma King, Ruby West, Irene Whittaker, Elisie Blair all of Longview, Washington and Ollie Haynes of Waynoka, Oklahoma; three brothers; John of Longview, Washington; Jim of Kelso, Washington and Archie of Mooreland, Oklahoma; besides other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral Services were held for Charley Tilford Schlarb at 10:00 a.m. Saturday January 8, 1972 in the Redinger Funeral Chapel with Rev. Paul Holmes officiating. Interment was in the Pleasant View Cemetery near Dacoma, Oklahoma under the direction of the Redinger Funeral Home.
