Funeral services were held Monday for Mrs. Verle McDowell of Guymon, Oklahoma, who died April 28 following an illness of three months. The service was held in Mooreland Methodist church with Rev. Charles Richardson officiating. Burial was made in Mooreland Cemetery under the direction of Knittel Funeral Home.
Beulah Irene McDowell was born December 16, 1923 at Ft. Supply, Oklahoma, the daughter of Charles A. and Irma Mapes Thomas. On August 8, 1947 she was united in marriage to Verle McDowell. They made their home in Mooreland, and to this union was born three children. She was a member of the Mt. Olive Methodist Church near Ft. Supply, and the Rebekah Lodge of Mooreland. She passed from this life on April 28, 1961 at Guymon Municipal Hospital.
She is survived by her husband Verle McDowell and three children: Douglas D., Danny Verle and Pala Irene, all of Guymon; her mother, Mrs. Irma Thomas of Ft. Supply; two brothers, Charles Thomas of Enid; and Hal Thomas of Ft. Supply; four sisters, Lola Kimbrel of Woodward; Veda Brown, of Fargo; Jewel Stevens of Tulamook, Oregon, and Neva Thomas, of Woodward; her grandmother, Frances Mapes, of Winterset, Iowa; and her step-grandmother, Mary Jane Thomas, of Ft. Supply. She also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends.
Beulah was a real friend and helper to Bessie and Kenneth McDowell when their daughter Teresa was born. Beulah took Bessie to the hospital and stayed with her as Kenneth couldn't be there.
