RICHMOND, Ind. -- Eula Bicknell, age 86, of Richmond, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006.

Born March 9, 1920, in Second Point, Mont., to Frank and Lucy Judd Bales, she was a resident of this area since 1934.


Eula attended Glasgow High School, Williamsburg High School, graduated from Richmond High School and attended Earlham College. She retired in 1982 from Belden after 32 years.

She was a member of First Assembly of God Church, the Tarum Shrine Ladies, Belden 25-Year Club, Belden Live Wires, Richmond Senior Center and former member of the Richmond Eagles. Eula loved to travel, was an avid bowler and a great gardener.

Survivors include her daughter, Sharon L. Kendall and husband Dale of Richmond; four grandchildren, David Winters, Katrina Winters and Richard Winters, all of Richmond, and Pamela Adams and husband Coy of Greens Fork; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Hoyt Tye of Richmond; brother, Kenneth Bales of Big Fork, Mont.; nieces; nephews; and a very special friend of 60 years, Ellen Guthrie of Winchester, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Richard Bicknell, who died April 20, 2003; her parents; and brothers, Layton, Ivan, Keith and Mark Bales.

Funeral service for Eula Bicknell will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road W., Richmond, with Chaplain David Garman officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at the funeral home.
