Edgar William McDowell, 79, resident of Bartlesville, died Sunday, March 27, 1994, at Jane Phillips Medical Center.
Private family sevices for Mr. McDowell will be held at a later date. Funeral services and cremation are under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home.
Mr. McDowell was born November 27, 1914, near Mooreland, to Earl Eugene and Tresa Agnes Vogt McDowell. he was raised and received his education in the Mooreland public schools.
He married Hazel Maye Gonser on Febrauary 22, 1937, in Mooreland, and they made their home in Mooreland until moving to Bartesville in 1989.
Mr. McDowell was a mechanic, a farmer and a carpenter while residing in Mooreland and Bartlesville and was a county worker for Woodward county. He retired in 1974.
Mr. McDowell entered the United States Army on April 9, 1945, and received his honorable discharge on October 27, 1946, receiving the following medals: Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign, Army of Occupation ribbon (Japan), Victory Ribbon and one Overseas Service Bar.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, two brother and two sisters.
Mr. McDowell is survived by his wife, Hazel, of the home; one daughter, Donna Holloway of Bartlesville; three brothers, V. L. "Skeet" McDowell, C. A. "Bid" McDowell and Warren McDowell, all of Mooreland; one sister, Glenda Lee Ingraham of Buffalo; three grandchildren; one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
