Kathleen Anne Clarke, 71, of Hilliard, Florida, passed peacefully, surrounded by her family, on January 6, 2016.
She was born July 12, 1944 in Jacksonville, Florida, to Marcus Lamar Clarke and Anne Brock Clarke. Kathy, or "Katy" as she was known to many close to her, received her Bachelor of Nursing degree and worked as a Critical Care Registered Nurse first at Baptist Hospital in Jacksonville and later at Fernandina Beach Hospital. She was a dedicated and caring nurse, helping countless patients during her work in the Trauma and ICU units. In the latter part of her career, Katy combined her nursing expertise with her love of computers as a technology manager and trainer, when new computer systems were installed in the Fernandina hospital system. An expert at building computers and creating web pages, she loved working with computer technology. She was also a superb master chef, having once cooked in the kitchens at White Oak Plantation.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Michael Allen Abell; five sisters; Suzanne Nixon (David), Marcia Robinson (Hal), Barbara Vanzant (Grady), Lorraine Ingle (Gary) and Karen Clarke; one son, Marcus Lamar Morrow, one grandson, Christopher Marcus Lamar Morrow, and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
