(Published online Dec. 9, 2016 by Dunes Memorial Chapel):

Frank R. Jackson, a longtime Reedsport resident, passed away Dec. 9, 2015 due to heart complications. Frank was born Feb. 10, 1933, in Portland, Ore. His family moved several times when he was growing up as his dad worked as a cook in several logging camps. Frank attended Reedsport Union High School and graduated in 1951. He attended OTI in Klamath Falls prior to being drafted into the U.S. Army and serving time in Korea. Frank worked as a logger for more than 40 years.

He was married to Dora Mae Crowder in 1952 and had two daughters. Dora passed away in 1997. In 1999 he married Mary Ann Thornton and they continued to reside in Reedsport up until he died.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed deer and duck hunting, fishing, crabbing and clamming. He took wonderful care of his family and truly valued several longtime friendships with people he attended school with, worked with, and met during his time in the service. He had several extended family members as he and Dora and Mary Ann all grew up in the Reedsport area.

Frank will be greatly missed by his wife of 16 years, Mary Ann; daughters, Debbie and husband, Kerry Kolander, and Gloria Moore; and grandchildren, Sara and husband, Brett Fitzgerald, and Woody Moore.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Dunes Family Clinic, Bay Area Hospital and Peace Health Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend, and all the friends and family members for their tremendous compassion and support during this difficult time.

A public visitation will be held from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14, at Dunes Memorial Chapel, 2300 Frontage Road in Reedsport with the memorial service following at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Reedsport Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the charity of your choice. For further information call Dunes Memorial Chapel, 541-271-2822
