John Bryan "Slim" Gardner, age 69, of Thornton, AR., (formerly of Port Arthur, TX.), died Friday September 8, at John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Administration Hospital in Little Rock, Ark. He was born May 17, 1937, in Bradley County, Ark. a son of the late John T. Gardner and Quinnie Ola Thomason Gardner. He was a bus driver for Continental Trailways Bus Line with 25 plus years of service, a Baptist, served in the U.S. Air Force, a lifelong member V.F.W., American Legion and Eagles. Also, preceding him in death was 2 sisters Ola Jean Hlavaty and Polly Gardner. Survivors are his wife A. Dean Gardner whom he married August of 1987; a son John Edward Gardner Ewins, London, England; a daughter Linda Henry, Thornton, Ark; 2 step sons Kenny Herrington, Houston, Tex. and Joe Herrington, Grove, Tex; 2 step daughters Linda Elam, Grove, Tex. and Diane Wheeler, Houston, Tex; 2 brothers Bill Gardner and Jim Gardner both of Hermitage, Ark; 3 sisters Ruby Tully and Florence Dickens both of Benton, Ark. and Myrtle Tillman , Warren, Ark; 4 grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren, 1 greatgrandchild, 17 step great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 11, Frazer's Chapel. Burial with flag presentation ceremony McFarland Cemetery in Banks, Ark. by Frazer's Funeral Home.
